Rider of the Week

It's been a long time since we had the famous "Rider of the Week" clip, but theres hasn't been anything out there worth the while.  Check out this fool riding on cliffs that seems to be only 12 inches wide and doing backflips while clearing a 72 foot canyon.  What do we say to that? AMAZING!  Check in...

Tarrus Riley & Kabaka Pyramid

Tarrus Riley & Kabaka Pyramid - Fly Di Gate

What can I say about the man Kabaka Pyramid?  The stock keeps rising.  Here's the new anthem of the year - "Fly Di Gate".  Partnered with reggae super star Taurrus Riley they knock it out of the park calling on all the Brother, Sistahs, & Family.  Wether your black, wether your red. wether you bald or a dread... wether you a Muslim, a Christian, or a Rasta Man... Remember you are African...  This song is the headliner on the new riddim "Selassie I Way" on the label "Israel Records".  Here's a couple of videos on the song and a link to the riddim mix compliments of "LionHeart Sound".  Enjoy and never delay to open up the gate...

King of the Wall 2013 - WST Style Clinic

So my mello my man ZONE1 just pulled up back in town.  Having not gotten down with my brother for over 2 years I was def excited to get it in.  In comes the "King of the Wall 2013" competition.  I opted out of the competition to let the next generation have their time to shine, so the Writerz Blok put us down for a style clinic.  With that in mind we started to plot a theme and run thru ideas for the clinic.  The Bode books were dusted off and some ideas were noted.  We finally set on some Bode lizards operating on toys at the local clinic.  This is what the prognosis said: "Just as I expected. No Heart. No Soul..."  Here are the flicks of the Get Free session.  Enjoy!
Progress shots.

"So Doc...  What's the Prognosis?"

P.S.  Sake-WST/IBM came in on the production after we had started, so I will do a part 2 of this production once he gets done.

The Search for the Golden Cheech Wizard - Part - 1

The Search for the Golden Cheech Wizard.

So the WST crew has this friendly battle started by the WST General,  Zone1.   The winner get's the covetted Golden Cheech Wizard Award for an entire year and get's to set up the rules for next years battle.  Izzy, being the winner of last years battle got to make up the guidelines for this years jump off.  Main rule is for the piece to say "WST".  Artist is free to add background and or characters.  Here's my first entry and "Damit!  I Want My Dam Cheech!!"
I went with a different color scheme using a light color (MTN-Hardcore2-Glacier Blue) for the outline instead of the usual dark contrasting color.  I used a 4 color fade, inspired from an African sunset I seen in a movie.  The fade consisted of All City - Providence Purple, Ironlak - Pose Sushi, old MTN Hardcore -  Fever Red, & MTN Hardcore2 - Soviet Red.   For the 3-D I went with some 1970 greens and used some Ironlak & MTN 94 for the fill.  I also tried something new with the glare lines although I'm not sure I like it.  Anyways, I hope you enjoy.

So here it is in it's glory.  "Battle Groundz 2013" Izzy and yours truly getting it in.  I barely got my piece up the day of the event with mad distractions, but made up for it by coming back, finishing, and rocking the character and background to tie it all together.  Felt good to get Free and execute.
Enjoy!

Here's a cool Hip Hop documentary that might have flew past you.  The documentary called: "What Ever Happened to Hip Hop?" talks about Hip Hop from the beginning stages and heads into the music industry side of things for most of the documentary.  Right under an hr. time it's a good watch.  There's ton's of great points made by a good cast of notable Hip Hopers including the Amun Rah himself - Afrika Bambaataa.  Check in and enjoy!

San Diego B-Boy Legend - E-Swift

Me and this guy go way back.  We went to high school and graduated together.  We were in the same crew more than a few times and were in some great battles throughout the years.  He's rep crews from Renegades of Funk, the world famous Rock Steady Crew, to the one he's been repping hard for years - San Diego's  Rock So Fresh.  Like KRS said: "Rap is something you do.  Hip Hop is something you live".  Sit back and enjoy this Old School veteran still getting it in.

ZONE-WST Rocks New York

Here's one that's been on the WST calendar for a minute now.  The combination of a WST founding member, Graffiti in the mother land and an all star Graff lineup had most in the group vexed.  The Style Sergeant ZONE1 made the 12 hr. driving trip to Ithaca, New York to take part in the "Get Up State" event.  With so much fishing as of late ZONE settled for a "C'mon Bite My Style" fishing theme.  Fresh event & artist, fresh bass character and B-Boy.  Pfhh, even had Afrika Bambaataa up in the place.  C'Mon Son - What else do you want?  #WSTisTheIllest  #PlanetRock  Check out the flicks and enjoy the video.
