Something From Nothing The Art Of Rap (FULL DVD)

Man, I finally got around to watching "The Art of Rap" directed by Ice-T.  I'm a sucker for documentaries so I was all in wile watching.  One of the dopest lines in the documentary was when Lord Jamar was talking about how the people in the ghetto lost instruments to either poverty or from them being removed from the school curriculum.  He goes on to say that before that it was not unusual for black people to play the piano, or horns.  What ended up happening was that they took the only thing in the house that played music being the turntable and turned it into an instrument.  That was mad powerful when you think how Hip Hop truly comes from nothing.  #HipHopLives

Cooking with DazeRoc - Living the dream...

"Green Acorn Squash Tortilla Soup"

It's been a hot minute since I hit you off with a recipe.  Having just won a huge vegetable & fruit basket I had plenty of goodies to cook with, even some I've never cooked with before.  I looked around the basket and pulled out a green acorn squash.
A green acorn squash is a good source of dietary fiber and contains vitamin C, vitamin B6, magnesium, & potassium.  With the weather here cold, rainy and stormy when I made this, I thought - "Soup sounds good."  Here's the ingredient list and recipe.  Enjoy and till next time,
 "Buen provecho"

Ingredients

1 - Green Acorn Squash
1/2 cup minced mix of green, orange, & yellow bell pepper
1/2 cup of minced onion
2 1/2 cups of water
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 tsp salt
black pepper to taste
1/4 tsp of ground oregano
1/4 tsp of ground cumin
3 tsp. of chicken flavor bouillon
2 tsp of corn starch
2 tbsp of olive oil
1 packet of Goya - Sazon
tortilla chips to garnish
shredded cheddar cheese to garnish

Ok, now that we got what we need start by turning the oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.  Take the green acorn squash and cut it in half.  Place in a 9 x12 glass baking dish and fill 1/3 with water and bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
Once the green acorn squash is cooked, you'll want it to allow to cool.  Once cooled scoop out all the fiber goodness and place on a bowl to use later.  In a large pot heat up oil on medium heat.  Once oil is hot, saute the pepper mix & onion 2-3  minutes until the onion starts to get translucent.
Add the water, milk, salt, pepper, oregano, cumin, chicken flavor bouillon, corn starch, squash & Sazon.  Mix everything good and break up the squash until smooth with a mixing wand.
Once smooth turn up the heat to high and bring to a boil.  Once it boils, cover and bring down the heat to low medium and simmer for 10 minutes.  Stir frequently.  In the recipe I used milk cause it's what I had, but if you got cream I think it will work even better.  Finish the soup by topping with cheese and broken tortilla chips.  I made this from scratch and off the top of the head free steeze steez and it came out real good.  Don't be shy and pick up a green acorn squash and make this recipe.  You won't be disappointed.

Breaking Bad - DazeRoc piece

"Breaking Bad" - Graffiti Art

Here's a project I've been meaning to post.  This is my "Breaking Bad" inspired production.  As usual, I wanted to experiment with the fill.  I did a top to bottom fade, but not in the traditional sense.  Instead of using just one color to fade into the next, I chose colors in the same family and faded them into the next color combo.  This is something I have not done before or seen done.  Big shout to my mello my man IZZY-WST that gave me "Breaking Bad" season 1 for X-Mas a few years back and got me all into it.  Also flags up high to my WST & GFC family.  STAE, I see you my man.  Don't stop the body rock...
