Graffiti Kaleidoscope x Mad C

Mad C - Graffiti Kaleidoscope
OK guys.  It's been a minute since I gave you one concerning the Queen B of Graff and by that I mean MAD C.  On this piece, the transition of the artist and the progression to think outside the box and constantly push the envelope hit a home run.  Don't know what these bad boys are worth but seeing that only 8 pieces were made they got to be a pretty penny.  A big fan of the transparent colors from spray paint company Belton her sponsor, the Kaleidoscope idea seems to work from the start.  Made for her solo show "Reflections" at the Kolly Gallery, the pieces are made out of anodized aluminum and made to look like a 600ml spray paint can.  They are hand painted to match each piece and boast hand cut pieces of colored glass that also match the color scheme.  Smh…  Below are a few flicks from the project and a video that sheds more light on the Kaleidoscope.  Enjoy!

Founding Fathers

Founding Fathers - DJ Documentary

Here's one that I've been meaning to share with you guys, but I wanted to watch it a few times before I weighed in on it.  This is the DJ documentary "Founding Fathers".  It sheds light on a list of DJ's that feel like they were left off the Hip Hop history books.  Throughout the entire documentary there is no or very little mention of Bam or Kool Herc.  Sour grapes or a legitimate gripe?  Let me know what you think on the feedback after you watch it.  In the documentary they say that people like Bam & Herc were a few years too late, but personally I feel more like they were actually a few years too early.  They we're also more disco and or club dj's.  The documentary does shed light on a bunch of technical advancements in the field of DJ'ing.  I feel they did a good job on that.  It also shows what I've been saying forever and that is.  That this DJ game as we know it, has more roots in the sound system business started in Jamaica.  The documentary is narrated by Chuck D who does a stellar job and should ruffle a few feathers or at least open up some interesting dialogs.  Enjoy and don't forget to tell me what you think in the feedback section.

Ironlak BBQ Burners

"Arriba Arriba!  Andale Andale!!!" x Ironlak BBQ Burners San Diego

I finally got back around to the blog after a bout with computer struggles..  Here's flicks of what I'm calling the: "Arriba, Arriba! Andale, Andale!!!" production by Wild Style Technicians own, AREST150, ZONE1, & DAZE ROC.  This took place at this years "Ironlak BBQ Burners" in San Diego.  The event was in conjunction with the Writerz Blok and with help from Wild Style Technicians.  Always blessed and honored to be able to rock and get an opportunity to get down with the crew.  Huge shout to Ironlak for their help and generous donation.  Big up to the Writerz Blok for providing an avenue and 2 thumbs up to the DJ's for keeping the vibe going.  I'll have a video of this soon, so stand by.  In the mean time, enjoy!
