San Clemente, CA - February XX, 2011- C1RCA Select is proud to announce the collaboration with hip-hop legend, Afrika Bambaataa, on the Spring 2011 tee and sneaker collection entitled the Zulu Collection.

Bronx native Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of break-beat deejaying, and one of the architects of Hip Hop Culture. In fact, he is credited for coining the phrase, “Hip Hop”for the culture and pulling the 5 elements together. He also helped fuel the development of other musical genres such as freestyle or Latin freestyle,  Miami bass, house, hip house, electronic and early techno. He was the first to use a synthesizer on a Hip Hop record, ultimately creating the electro funk sound.


C1RCA is proud to work with Afrika Bambaataa again (initially in a sponsored concert 10 years ago), and is excited about the sneaker and t-shirt offerings in the Spring 2011 Select Collection.


Afrika Bambaataa and C1RCA have teamed up to create two shoes for the Spring 2011 collection, the Convert and the 99 Vulc. The Bambaataa Convert features a High Top design with a molded EVA insole for added comfort. The Bambaataa Convert comes in a green, black and red color way with Suede, Patent Leather, Perf Action Nubuck, and a 3M reflective Upper. The Convert advertises the collab with “UZN” on the heel and “Zulu Nation” on the bottom sole representing the Universal Zulu Nation.


The Bambaataa 99 Vulc features a Mid-Top design with specialized, unique logo and material treatment. The Bambaataa 99 Vulc comes in black and gold with soft Nappa and wrinkle patent leather and the UZN branding on the tongue.


The Zulu collection also features three Zulu tshirts.

Ohh Snap!  Here we go with that angry Hip Hop.  My NS brother Drasar monumental brings you "Remix Weaponry - Drasar Monumental VS Mobb Deep".  This is one in an all out barrage that Drasar will be bringing forward for the year of 2011.  In this project Drasar sat down and plotted the entire massacre.      I represent the 80's school of Graffiti and it seems like the few of us that are still around do it primarily for fun.  It never left us and we're still at it for the love of it.  Not for a meal ticket or to pay the bills.

Aerosoul 2 - Quick Review

Here is a little review done on the great show I was privileged to attend,  put on by my NS Zulu brothers(Oakland Chapter).  Great job guys!  It was an experienced meeting some of the extremely humble NYC legends that came out to be part of the show.  Great conversations and jewels went out that night.  I will post more on this cannonball run I made with a couple of Ahkis.  Peace and Blessings ya'll..

Egyptian B-Boys crash Wrestle Mania.

Hopping to make the much anticipated "Cage of Death Match" on December 11th, Egyptian B-Boys do what some are calling Illegal tactics. Using hypnosis as tactics and using moves like the yo-yo.  Not since the 80's have we seen moves like that... There is even a guy I know there towards the end.  Thanks Ryno for this one.

My Radio believe me I like it loud!

Christmas came early compliments of my man Pesa.  He had told me about this Don Q Boom Box he had that he knew I would be interested in.  Don Q is maybe the most used rum in Puerto Rico, not Bacardi.  Since I am a Puerto Rican Rum Aficionado, you know I had to get my hands on that radio.  After a few minutes bartering, the Boombox with the words "Super Jumbo" was mine.  Soon after I got it, I had to find some of my old tapes.  Put one in and the frequencies evolving from the box made me get my Blackbook and get a session in. 

Trash is Cash

Guess you can say that the youth is my calling.  My mother was a teacher and I got 8 years of working for a school district myself.  For some reason they always seem to move me.  Here is a pack of kids that have stood up against almost impossible odds.  Through music/Hip Hop they have created a new life for themselves and their families and now they want to teach their message to the masses.  Each on Teach One.  Thanks B-Boy Life for this one.

Baske sighting in San Diego - Part 4

Weekend came and as promised forgot the NFL games on TV and headed to the Block to get it in with Baske before he has to go back home.  This would be my 3^rd weekend in a row painting to bring in the year.  Can’t complaint.  For this one, I was not trying to go too crazy or too big.  I scaled down and kept the fill simple.  Baske rocked the buildings and background and Ize did his bizz.  Got to do more backgrounds this year…  " I got Hip Hop, diwi, diwi, diwi, Running through these veins.."  Enjoy!

Custom WST Game Box

Baske sighting in San Diego - Part 3

Baske Art Installation at the Block. – “Anger is no Food”

My man Baske came from Germany and is on a mission leaving and doing art everywhere he goes.  He has not stopped since he got here a few weeks ago.  Walls, canvases, paper, aerosol, acrylics, ink, you name it…  With Ize and I hard at work during the week, we could not meet him to go paint at the Block during the week.  We promised to meet again over the weekend, but Baske could not stay away or wait that long.  He headed to the writers block for a 3^rd time in a week and proceeded on buffing and entire area of the park including ramps, boards and floor.  Some cats asked me: “What the fuck is that dude doing” when I got to the Block to snap a few flicks.  What proceeded after, is the mind of Baske getting down. The photos do not capture the essence or the feeling that my man was trying to convey.  These are flicks from when he was going at it and I never did get photos of the finished product.  Hope you guys like the flicks,  Enjoy!
