OK guys.  Here's one for you Vinyl lovers.  It surounds the new Jack White Ultra LP.  Here are some of the features in this collectors gem.  

     First of all, it is cut on 180 gram vinyl.

  There are 2 vinyl-only hidden tracks beneath the center labels (under the label grooves).  This is a first of it's kind.  Beneath the label; meaning you can play another track that it's hidden where the LPs sticker is.  

     One of the hidden tracks plays at 78 RPM and the other plays at 45 RPM, making the LP the first 3 speed record.

     Side A plays from the inside out!  Another feature I had never seen.  

     This is amazing! - The record has what they call dual-groove technology witch plays an electric OR acoustic intro for the song "Just One Drink" depending on where the needle is dropped; the grooves meet the body of the song. SMH.  

     Side A has a shinny finish while side B has a matt finish.  

     Both sides finish with Locked Grooves that continue to play as if it was looped.  Side A with what they are calling a first; in that has an outside locked groove.  

     If that was not enough tricks for you, here's the kicker.  Side A contains a hand-etched hologram!  Yes I said hologram.  This is another first of its kind.  The record actually has 2 angels spinning around as the record plays.  

I don't know about you, but I might just have to get in line and pick one of these up as a collector of vinyl.

 Here's one of the best mini movies I've seen in a while.  This is a tribute to the reggae cult classic "Rockers" and starts the 21 year old reggae sensation, Chronixx.  You got to love Chronnix's jive acting and rastaman walk. This particular song "Rasta Man Wheel Out" is a single of his new album: "Dread and Terrible".  The EP contains 7 tracks and for you dub lovers, 3 dub tracks.  The EP is available for purchase so gwuan mon and support di youth dem.

Jay Shells' Rap Quotes - LA Edition

Here's a real cool video I ran across.  It's a guerrilla style rap quote project that I found interesting. The artist name is Jay Shells' and he is famous for posting realistic street signs that read something else.  I love the guerrilla tactics.. On this edition he comes to Los Angeles with a trunk load of famous rap quotes from LA rapers.  The quotes make mention of a specific address and Jay drives there and permanently installs the signs.  Here's a few of the quotes he used: "So I hook a left on 2-1 & Lewis, Some brothers shooting dice so I said let's do this" - Warren G.  "It's hell hot, we pull up to Dockweiler, The scene is so lovely, it make me wanna holla" - Defari.  "So now I'm down Rosecrans in LA in a caravan, passing Alameda my bass meter in need of a pump" - Kendrick Lamar.  "Down LA Cienega to bust a left on Venice where you can find me and mines" - Xzibit.  He ended up putting up 45 of these around LA.  I wonder how long they stayed up and how manny if any are still up.  Enjoy!

Here's a cool Throwback Thursday design.  This was our first character design and was also our first 8 color design.  B-Boy character was designed by SAKE-WST and back tag logo by ZONE-WST.  The "Statue of Graffiti" designed was dropped circa 1998 and didn't cary the private label on the neckline. The entire garment was produced in the good old U.S.A.

This is one I'm not wanting to miss.  Having gone to the last one, I finally seen what all the hype was about.  There were records diggers for sure.  They were everywhere.  But there was also many other things and bargains to be had.  Yoga, B-Boy Session, MC's, DJ's, mad Hip Hop and none Hip Hop items to come up on...  The fun was endless and free to the public.  If you live in LA or are going to be in the area during that time, do yourself a favor and head out to the Beat Swap Meet celebrating their 6 year anniversary.

Ok you Hip Hop diggers, here's a rare one that might have flow by you.  It's called "Breakin' 'N' Enterin' " and covers the early days of Los Angeles Hip Hop.  There is some real early footage here as well as classic material.  One of my favorite West Coast rap artist of all times, Ice-T is seen here Popping, Locking, Uprocking, Breaking & MCing.  Add that to pimp, hustler, and player...  Yee!  You also see the impact the Hip Hop craze  had on the kids from the hood.  Manny were saved and chose not to be in gangs or on drugs. #HipHopLives  If your from the early LA scene please leave some comments and shed light on some of this early and rare footage.  Enjoy!
