From Mambo to Hip Hop

I've been looking for this documentary for a minute.  Word is that one of my Kings just located a copy and it's on is way.  Being born in Puerto Rico, you know I am mad proud to share this with you guys.  My peoples have had a say in the pioneering days of Hip Hop.  This documentary shows the relation between the Mambo/Salsa era and the Hip Hop fenomenon.  That goes for all the elements too.  Here is a bit of the documentary or what i have found form it.  Enjoy & share.

He's not Man, he's not Dude. He is officer Riviery!!!!!

Wow! What city and or department trained this Neanderthal? Clear that this scum bag should not have any type of civilized job, yet alone work with the public.  What a jerk.  Guy actually commits and assault and he is suppose to be the law abiding officer.  Excessive use of force physically, emotionally, and verbal.  and they wonder why they came out with "Fuck the Police"...

Check this funny of officer Rivieri.  Enjoy!

Is Fab 5 Freddie a fraud?

Wow!  Not too often I get something from someone's blog and re-post it but... I don't even know what to say.  I got this from Revok's blog.  Please leave comments on this one.  Looks like someone got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Story:
This post is sure to ruffle some feathers and possibly damage a few relationships… But i cant bite my tongue on this one since it involves a dear friend and crew member of mine SEVER MSK. So… I was eating dinner tonight entertaining myself with my iphone browsing the web, I came across something mentioning a recent show at Subliminal Projects in L.A. involving 2 of the most important and influential graffiti artists in history… And one poser. The title of this show ironically was “3 kings” -I nearly threw-up my salad.
Now FUTURA 2000 & LEE QUINONES are undeniably kings in every respect, and I have the highest respect for both artists and in no way aim to disrespect them. I think every writer on the planet would agree they are true kings in every respect… But this less than fabulous Freddie character is a lame and NEVER WAS A GRAFFITI WRITER/ARTIST. Actually let me make a correction… He painted some really shitty piece on a movie set, a music video, started a piece once on one train and didnt finish… and caught a few tags around a trendy neighborhood were a few key galleries were located in the 80′s… This in no way qualifies him as anything but a wanna-be and a perpetrator. To show this lame alongside true legends FUTURA & LEE is a travesty and insult to the culture.
Now I bet your wondering why I am going so hard at poor Fab-5 and knocking the guy’s hustle… Under any other circumstances I’d have a chuckle and go about my business… But I absolutely can not leave this one alone because that shit Fab-5 tried to present in a gallery as “original art” isn’t original. Fab’s “art” is composed entirely of stolen bits and pieces from my friend SEVER’s art… And its reproduced tragically might i add. Here is a guy who was NEVER a graffiti writer… Posing as a “king of graffiti” -All the while stealing from a REAL graffiti writer. SEVER is a world renown & globally recognized & respected graffiti artist… I bet “King FAB 5″ doesn’t even know who SEVER is and stumbled across SEVER’s work doing a google search… FUCKING PATHETIC.
Surely “King Fab-5″ would have a long catalogue of his own work to “sample” from to create original pieces for his art show right? -Wrong, he doesn’t have shit because he never did shit.

DazeRoc-"Subterraneous, Intergalactic Funk" - project finished...

So I finally got around to my pet project “Subterraneous, Intergalactic, Funk”.  Feels good to finally get this done and I’m actually semi happy with the results.  I spent a lot of time on the fill, most of it just thinking and contemplating.  I really wanted to get out of my comfort level and try some new things and new techniques. I thought the flames came out dope.  2011 was a very productive year and I’m hoping to keep it moving and staying Free in 2012.  This one goes out to my GFC Family.  Always keeping it Hip Hop and staying Free.  “No Him Bow”.  Finally, here are the photos I promised.  Please leave comments and click on the photo to zoom in.  Thank you for tuning in and Enjoy!

The Blueprint..."I set it off in the sunny distance..."-Evidence.

If you slept on Evidence album I ask you to backpedal now and check in.  The album is called "Cats and Dogs" and is his first album dropped with the Minneapolis based label Rhymesayers.   Production by: DJ Premier, Alchemist, Babu, Statik Selectah, and more.  Cameos by:Aloe Blacc, Raekwon, Rass Kass, Roc Marciano, Rakaa, & more.  This might have been my pick for album of the year for 2011.  The album is just jammed packed with solid and real Hip Hop music. The song "Red Carpet" was one of my favorites.  The beat is captivating.  Produced by Alchemist and with cameos from The Chef and Ras Kass.  If you ain't feeling this beat, them Hip Hop is dead to you.  The first is a video of Evidence kind of describing the blueprint for the song and how it came all together.  Hip Hop Lives!.......
Second video is the actual song  Enjoy!

Life Teachings with I Wayne

Here we go with some each one, teach one.  This is a small documentary of Reggae sensation Fire Wayne courtesy of LionHeart Sound.  Enjoy!

About artist:
Born Cliffroy Taylor, 32 years ago, the Kingston native, captivated fans in 2005 with his debut release Lava Ground and its trilogy of hits, "Can't Satisfy Her," "Living In Love" and "Lava Ground;" and in 2007 he released his second album Book Of Life, which also landed on Billboard's Reggae chart. "Can't Satisfy Her" is still considered one of the most captivating reggae tunes, which charted to no. 31 on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and received heavy rotation at New York's Hot 97 radio station.

However, this notoriety is not I Wayne's driving force to make music. He never comprises his message for the sake of a hit record. "There is a preference for nastiness, positive artists don't get their fair attention. But mi stay calm and remember nature was going on before any business start, so it is better I keep my focus and keep writing these songs, " states I Wayne.

Science Monday's with KRS.

Let's kick off the year with some science dropped by the one and only KRS ONE.  Here he partners up with old time friend Mad Lion to open up your cerebral.  Music from KRS 20th studio album - Just Like that, dropping real soon.  First video is another Hip Hop classic with Kris reminiscing and gowing through the years.  This video had me on a good one...
The second video he deals with the topic is Dec. 21, 2012.  Check it.
Letter by KRS:
"AZTECHNICAL"
Peace. This is KRS-One! I'd like to personally thank everyone for their show of support toward the release of the "Just Like That" video. I'm not really a big Internet guy myself, but I had to respond to the enormous amount of love we've experienced since the release of the "Just Like That" video. MAD LION ROCKED IT! However, the best is still yet to come.
As you may know, I often use my talents to edutain my listeners and inspire the international Hip Hop community. 2012 will be no different. I feel sorry for those who already think that I preach too much in rhyme, or that I need to retire. On the contrary, I'm just getting started.
Turning the flame up a little more, my next video presentation "Aztecnical" will deal with the myths of 2012, particularly the December 21st 2012 Mayan Calendar "end date". Too many of our people are being led astray by movies, lectures and hype mostly regarding the celestial calculations of the Mayan Calendar. And while other cultures also predict the same "end date" calculations, it is important to point out that all cosmic alignments, shifts and even changes are occurring RIGHT NOW! The question is, how might this affect Hip Hop worldwide? I believe we are about to finally have our "say" in the world. The key word in the next few upcoming months will be "courage", and true courage comes from living rightly. As an international culture, Hip Hop is poised for a great opportunity; my goal is to get us prepared for it, and fear has no place in our collective future.
I am sending this "Aztecnical" video out in hopes that it sparks discussion and dispels fears. The first verse deals with the actual Mayan calculations themselves and shows how governments and corporate entities of all sorts use the fears of the public to their own economic and global advantages. The second verse deals with the conquest of Cortez over the Mayan People and how it was the Mayans' own cultural beliefs that were used against them to cease their lands and resources. The point being, do not allow hype and your own view of the world to lure you into the hands of those only out to exploit you. BE STRONG! BE COURAGOUS! And yes, Knowledge Reigns Supreme. There It Is,Just Like That.
